Paintings of Venice – The Fishmarket Just above the Rialto Bridge on the Grand Canal is an area of Venice that is a world within a world. The Fishmarket bustles away with activity in it’s splendid building, still a hub of traditional commerce facing the grand palaces opposite. The gondola crossing is in fact the ‘traghetto’, an unlikely ferry that dodges the vaporetti traffic passing and transports its passengers, usually standing upright. Paintings of Venice – The Vegetable Barge On all my visits to Venice over the years this barge has always been there selling fruit and vegetables. It’s a colourful sight with it’s ‘sail’ providing shade through the day.
