Paintings of Umbria – Todi Flower Market
Edward Hutton in his book remarked of Todi that “No-one goes there”. And on the Sunday morning as I was climbing its cobbled streets I passed no-one except an old lady clearly on her way to Mass.
But as I emerged into the main Piazza I was surprised to find a flower festival setting up. It was the perfect subject, and although I only had time to do a drawing, I painted from that back in the studio, and enjoyed producing this painting.
