Rio dei Mendicanti, Venice

Rio dei Mendicanti, Venice

This is a canal view that is typical of Venice and at first glance could be anywhere. But it is at one corner of the campo (or square) of S.Giovanni and Paulo, an impressive set piece of theatre with a large equestrian statue and lots of cafe tables. I like this particular view for the huge and precarious chimneys to the top left. They really do look ready to topple into the canal and must be 7 feet tall each.
